Yarn?

or something else?

Me and my spindle are getting aquainted. At this point we were not getting along very well. Totally craptastic stuff isn't it?

But then....
things started to get a little better.

A better close up.

Ok, all you spinners out there, I know it isn't great, but it resembles yarn a little bit, yes? I have no idea what these fibers are. They were all given to me to practice on and none of them are labeled. I do know that the lighter blue/green stuff was much easier to work with than the first two. I have some yummy looking cream BFL to try next. Wish me luck!

Yes, YARN! Gorgeous yarn too, by the way! Just keep plugging away at it and next thing you know, you'll be showing us a wheel, then more handspun...... then sigh, all the gorgeous items you will make!

There is a knitting place about 20 minutes away from here (it has stuff a little on the pricy side and I've only ever been there once) that had a spinning class last month. Unfortunately I didn't get to attend. I've contacted them to see if they are going to be doing any drop spindle classes again and she said their spring classes will be listed in the next couple of weeks. I am thinking that I want to take the course this time around and try my hand and the drop spindle and see how that goes...congrats on sticking to your spinning - it's coming along great!

Oh my gosh! I'm so excited for you! You're doing a wonderful job! You'll be buying a wheel in no time!

Great job with your spinning - it DOES look like yarn! I'm so impressed - I don't even dare to try.

PS: Here's a link to crimping tips: http://www.bead-co.com/crimping_instructions.htm Just ignore the stuff about the crimping tool. You can do the same thing with some small flat nosed pliers, just squish the crimp flat.

It's a great start! Don't get discourages. I imagine you'll have an easier time with the BFL and don't forget to pre-draft!

I think your spinning looks really good - and I'm absolutely sure that you'll be buying a wheel in no time! Great work!

Those are gorgeous! That second one especially just leaped out and grabbed me. Oh, and--I've been wheel-spinning for 13 years, and you have more spindle spinning done on just one of those than I've ever managed to accomplish. Well done!
